I was asked by a fellow artist recently what single entity has most influenced my artwork throughout all these years, and to what I attribute my ability. I suppose he figured that he had stumped me, at least momentarily. He was amazed that my answer was immediate, and by no means difficult. I have lived with it for all of sixty-three years now and have no problem revealing my fortune to any and all comers. It's simple- The Hand Of God. You see I'm a firm believer that any and all talent is God Given and to waste same is a sin. My art is by no means an exception. I also stated that the protrayal of nature is extremely satisfying but sometimes more difficult than you can imagine. First, because you must realize that when you observe the change of seasons, all the moods, and all the colors not only in front of you, but all around you, that this is the Hand of the Master you see. Think of it, you are attempting to copy, to the best of your ability, the scene in all its splendor, and you are a mere mortal. A daunting task to be sure. To match the colors on your palette to the scene you observe, is at times overwhelming. And when you are able to accomplish this, at least occasionally, it is absolutely beyond comprehension. I have been truly fortunate in that I've been allowed to put Nature's Beauty to canvas for all to see and enjoy. And no matter how you feel about my dissertation, if you stop to think about it, you will realize that I'm not creating this for my own benefit, no more than the paintings I turn out. It took me many years to come to this conclusion, and it wasn't until my friend asked me that question, that I finally admitted that I was given my talent for a specific reason; that of bringing to as many people as possible, the glory of God thru my paintings.
